Cycling and in particular winter training needs a target to keep you engaged and pushing through the crap months. Historically my major motivator has been weight management. Sportives have played a part as well, this year I have moved from just doing sportives to targetting 'good times' and premier events. That didn't go well, having wussed out of the long course of the dragon ride this year my motivation dropped through the floor.
So what needs to change for the remainder of 2011 and 2012. Hopefully my adherence to training and hitting a few goals. With that in mind lets through out some top level targets for 2012.
Hell of Ashdown February 2012 - its a tough and hilly circuit so my target is a silver medal time.
Dragon ride 2012 - a sub eight hour time for the long course will do very nicely thank you very much.
Weight - sub 95 kg by the dragon ride.
One final thought, the blog is named after Lance Armstrong and Dr Ferrari's targeted power ratio for the Tour and it represents the pot of gold at the end of my training rainbow. If I ever achieve it I am hanging up my Sidis.
